We are looking for a Technical Officer in Plant Cell Technologies to support our Aquatic and Crop Resource Development Research Centre in Saskatoon, SK. The Cell Technologies Team is experienced in the development and utilization of a range of plant cell and tissue culture techniques (e.g. transformation, doubled haploidy, protoplasts, suspensions, gene editing) that will advance crop production under changing environmental conditions.  The Technical Officer would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.

The primary purpose of the position is to provide technical support in the design, planning, conduct, and analysis of various experiments. The position is also involved in experimental preparation, laboratory and equipment coordination/maintenance.
Working closely with experienced NRC project leads and scientists, you will contribute to projects focused on enhancing Canadian crop species through plant cell technologies. You will contribute to the growth and maintenance of plants. You will prepare media, prepare and isolate explants, transform and/or maintain explants as appropriate for further experimentation/molecular screening and/or regeneration. Microscopic observation and analysis of resulting tissues/plants will also be required.  Maintaining meticulous records of experiments and working effectively within a team environment will be key to success in the position.

The campus research community includes the Saskatoon Research and Development Centre of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, research centres for other Canadian and Provincial research organizations, many companies involved in agricultural research, Colleges of Agriculture, Medicine, and Veterinary Medicine, the Global Institute for Food Security (GIFS), the Global Institute for Water Security (GIWS), and the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization - International Vaccine Centre (VIDO-InterVac).
