We are looking for an ambitious Research Associate to join our Global Blueberry Breeding group. The Research Associate is responsible for the blueberry breeding test plot in Albany, OR. This position will report to the Variety Development Manager and manage substrate and field production, phenotype, and perform a variety of other tasks related to plant breeding. The Research Associate will be based in our Canby, OR office but primarily perform work at the test plot in Albany, OR. This role will bring value to the enterprise through their diligence and attention to detail to make observations, collect data, and ensure plant health that will support the development and deployment of proprietary blueberry genetics. 

Candidate Profile


  • Bachelor of Science in Plant Science, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field
  • 1-3 years of experience working with horticultural crops preferred
  • Strong work experience in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Be able to work in a research lab, commercial cooler, and an outdoor field environment where temperatures and conditions can be variable, this includes the ability to perform physical work in the field
  • The patience to, at times, tolerate tedious and/or repetitive work – e.g. rating large field trials, weekly field and shelf life evaluations
  • Candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with other team members
  • Candidate must be self-motivated and have the ability to work independently with minimal instruction
  • Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time
  • Have flexibility in working hours, especially during the fruiting season. Some days may start as early as 5:30 AM
  • Have reliable transportation to work location
