Bishop's University: M.Sc. Position in Plant Biology and Biochemistry

The Weraduwage Lab in the Department of Biology and Biochemistry, Bishop’s University, focuses on discovering strategies to enhance plant growth, productivity and resilience to stress under future climate conditions. They are seeking an M.Sc. student interested in carrying out research spanning the fields of Plant Biology, Physiology and Biochemistry.

The successful applicant will use a variety of Arabidopsis mutant lines to understand how whole plant C gain, C available for growth and overall plant growth and reproduction can be maximized under elevated carbon dioxide and temperature. The selected student will be involved in growing Arabidopsis plants under varying environmental conditions, and conducting plant growth analyses, leaf gas exchange measurements, phosphoproteomic analyses and RNA sequencing. Plants will be grown in the Phytotron at the Université de Sherbrooke, located in the same city as Bishop’s. Therefore, the student may be required to travel between the two Universities.

This M.Sc. position will be funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). The selected candidate will receive a stipend of CA $20,000 per year for two years. Students are also expected to apply for internal and external scholarships.
