University of Saskatchewan: Funded PhD Opportunity (Closing Soon!)

03 Mar 2025 19:46 | Anonymous member (Administrator)

Thesis Research Topic: Sporopollenin exhibits such remarkable strength it is known as the “diamond of the plant world”. There is widespread interest in unravelling the secrets of this resilient bioproduct that encapsulates plant pollen and spores. Yet, uncertainty surrounding the basic chemistry of sporopollenin and the mechanisms of its assembly prevails. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to characterize pollen cell wall chemistry using innovative cross-beamline imaging at the Canadian Light Source (CLS) and University of Saskatchewan. The candidate will be immersed in an interdisciplinary, diverse training environment, based in the lab of Dr. Quilichini, Department of Biology, with co-supervision by a CLS beamline scientist, and trainee in an NSERC collaborative research and training experience (CREATE) program for synchrotron scientists from across Saskatchewan, Canada.

For more details on Dr. Qulichini, qualifications, and how to apply, click here.

Applications close on March 15, 2025.
